WASHINGTON SHOE COMPANY TURNING JAPANESE THROUGH
LICENSING DEALS WITH HELLO KITTY AND TOKIDOKI
Los Angeles (August 4, 2008) – Expanding on its licensing deals with such children’s brands as Thomas the Tank Engine, Washington Shoe Company announced initial licensing deals with Hello Kitty and Tokidoki to create a series of rain boots featuring the popular Japanese anime brand and the furry cartoon phenomenon.
The boots are scheduled to hit popular high-end specialty and department stores, including Nordstrom, Dillard’s, Stride Rite and Piper Lime, in October 2008. Suggested retail price is between $60 and $120.
Under the agreement, Washington Shoe Company will design, source, manufacture and market a full array of Tokidoki and Hello Kitty rainwear. Styles include Hello Kitty Crest Rain Pup, Hello Kitty Retrospective Traditional Rain Boot, and Tokidoki Leopard Traditional Rain Boot and matching Rain Pup. The company will also debut their new rain pup construction, which offers a more junior look to the traditional rain boot.
