WASHINGTON SHOE COMPANY TURNS JAPANESE THROUGH
LICENSING DEAL WITH TOKIDOKI

Los Angeles (August 12, 2008) – Expanding on its licensing deals with such brands as Thomas the Tank Engine and Hello Kitty, Washington Shoe Company announced a licensing deal with Tokidoki to create a series of rain boots featuring the popular Japanese inspired lifestyles brand.

Tokidoki, meaning “sometimes” in Japanese is the inspired design of Italian artist Simone Legno.  When Legno was contacted via his personal website in 2004 by Pooneh Mohajer, co-founder of Hard Candy Cosmetics and her husband, Ivan Arnold, tokidoki was transformed into a globally recognized brand.

Under the agreement, Washington Shoe Company will design, source, manufacture and market a full array of tokidoki rainwear.  Styles include tokidoki Leopard Traditional Rain Boot and matching Rain Pup.  The company will also debut their new rain pup construction, which offers a more junior look to the traditional rain boot.

The boots are scheduled to hit popular high-end specialty and department stores later this fall, and will retail for $120.00 for women and $60.00 for kids.

Rob Moehring, president of Washington Shoe Company, commented on their new designs, “We have been amazed by the early response to these fresh designs in this market. These rain boots represent our first foray into the fast growing market of art based street wear for us. The tokidoki brand enjoys a massive following of passionate tokidoki lovers and we are thrilled to provide them with these incredible boots.”

Washington Shoe Company is committed to providing the consumer with high quality footwear created to meet and exceed the demands of today’s lifestyle. Washington Shoe Company was founded in Seattle in 1891 to manufacture Western Chief Work boots.  Today the company produces Western Chief work boots, women’s and children’s rubber boots and rainwear, Chooka, a line of fashion rubber and sheepskin boots, Staheekum a full line of classic sheepskin slippers, and 2Pod a promotional line of sandals, sport and adventure footwear.
